Considering the large consumption of nicotine and its sedative/stimulant effect on different organs of the body, the detection of low concentration of this material and its subsequent effect on live animals plays a significant role. Optical detection techniques such as plasmonics are the pioneers in highly sensitive detection techniques. However, for investigating the nicotine/smoke effect on live cells, not only the interaction between cell nicotine should be optimized but also the plasmonic interface should show a high sensitivity to the reception of nicotine by the cell receptors. In this study, the sensitivity of the plasmonic detection system was greatly increased using the coupling of plasmon and fluorophore. This coupling could enhance the main plasmonic signal several orders of magnitude besides improving Δ and Ψ ellipsometry parameters. Benefiting from the green fluorescence proteins, the phase shift and the amplitude ratio between the reflections under s- and p-polarized light enhance considerably which verifies the coupling of the dipole of the fluorescence emitter and the plasmons of the metal nanostructure. For 1 s increase of the maintenance time, we encountered a considerable increase in the Δ values that were 0.15° for T e = 1 s and 0.24° for T e = 3 s. Benefiting from extracted ellipsometry parameters, this study could open new avenues toward studying the effect of various types of drugs and stimulants on biological samples using a novel plasmophore platform.Steroids are called the "fingerprint" of oils, fats, and their derivatives. Different classes of steroids may be present in these matrices. Most of the methods developed to analyze these constituents involve the determination of free steroid content, although their conjugated forms are extremely important in determining the total composition. Thus, this article demonstrates that the coupling of sequential mass spectrometry and high-performance liquid chromatography obtained high sensitivity and high specificity of mass resolution to identify and quantify the main classes of steroids. Four methods were developed to quantify steroids free, esterified, glucosides, and acylated glucosides by internal standardization using betulin. The main validation parameters were tested and demonstrated good correlation results for the methods. The content of free steroids was the majority in all samples, whereas the content of glucoside steroids was the least abundant. The contents of free steroids quantified in the degummed soybean oil were significantly reduced in relation to the refined oil. A small amount of esterified steroids was superior in refined soybean oil than in degummed oil. Comparing the steroid content between degummed oil and biodiesel, we found that the concentration of free and esterified steroids decreases in the conversion to biodiesel, whereas the concentration of glucoside steroids increases slightly.Difficult separation of oil-solid phase and high fine content of the recovered oil were two problems in the treatment of oily sludge from the tank bottom by the hot water-based extraction process. To solve the problems, one technology with "ball milling + ozone-catalyzed oxidation" as the core was studied, and the process parameters of ball milling and ozone-catalyzed oxidation were respectively optimized. After ball milling treatment, the oil content of dry oily sludge decreased from 33.9 to 10.2%. Then, an ozone catalytic oxidation treatment technology with aluminum ore as the catalyst was developed to further treat this stubborn oily sludge. Under the optimal conditions, the oil content of oily sludge could be further reduced to 0.28%, which met the treatment and disposal requirements stipulated in GB4284-2018. For further research on the contribution of the catalyst to the ozone catalytic oxidation system, the reaction activation energy and reaction rates of ozone oxidation and ozone catalytic oxidation were compared from the perspective of kinetics. Enzymatic transglycosylation is emerging as a new strategy to improve the pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic properties of natural products for drug development. In this study, three PU glucosides (PU-G, PU-2G, and PU-3G) were synthesized by using a cyclodextrin glucanotransferase from Bacillus licheniformis with PU as the acceptor and α-cyclodextrin as the sugar donor. The transglycosylation products were isolated and structurally identified by mass spectrometry and nuclear magnetic resonance. The water solubilities of PU-G, PU-2G, and PU-3G were 15.6, 100.9, and 179.1 times higher than that of PU, respectively. Moreover, the antiosteoporosis activities of these glucosides were tested, and PU-G was found to show much more potent antiosteoporosis activity as compared to the original PU.This paper describes the isolation and structural determination of a new stilbene dimer, named 7a-epi-gnetin C, from melinjo (Gnetum gnemon L.) seed extract. The relative structure was elucidated based on NMR spectroscopic evidence, while the absolute configuration was assigned by a combination of NMR and electronic circular dichroism spectroscopic analysis and chemical conversion. 7a-epi-Gnetin C was evaluated as an antioxidant and was shown to have a comparable activity to the known stilbene oligomers. In addition, the structural revision of gnetin L, a known stilbene dimer, was also discussed.
